About the artist:
The love for trying new things is what made Nancy who worked for 20 years as a graphic designer take a screen-printing course at the Thames side print studios and immediately fell in love with it. What started as a hobby turned into a second career pretty quickly and quite accidently.
Nancy lives and designs from her office in Bromley but produces her screen-print work at the Thames Barrier studios where other members of the print studio have dubbed her the cleanest printmaker they’ve ever met.
Viewing Nancy's artwork it's clear to see that she enjoys combining hand drawn elements, found antique illustration, and modern symbolic imagery to achieve a finished piece, that not only tells a story but also provokes a paradoxical result. All Nancy's work has a hidden meaning and depth, as she likes to create an illusion of fantasy that can not only alter at every glance but is subjective to the viewer.
Her obsession with Japanese, Greek, Roman and Viking mythology weave mythical elements into her artwork. She loves ‘the story’ in mythology and how ancient ideals can translate to modern living.
